Cycling in Canada, a dream, a reality.
Having developed a passion for travelling in my twenties, I began to explore Europe and the Americas, eager to discover, experience, and meet new people. As I travelled about, the tourist in me became a citizen of the world, open to new cultures, seduced by exoticism, sensitive to human richness. A humanitarian mission in Guatemala, studies in Costa Rica, an academic mission in Europe, the proximity of people in Mexico, relaxation in Cuba, road trips on American soil, a host of images and sensations are forever engraved in my memory.
In the wake of these, the great outdoors appeared on my path during my thirties. I discovered a community of equal richness, with human, social and environmental values that appeal to me directly. I discovered the face of Quebec in all its splendour, a province worthy of contemplation, a province where living is grand. Sea kayaking in the Saguenay River Fjord, snowshoeing in the Monts Valin, wilderness skiing in Gaspé Park, canoe-camping in Mauricie, cycling in the Estrie region, golfing in the Québec City area, hiking in Charlevoix, cross-country skiing in the Laurentian reserve, rustic shelters, camping are all pleasures that I enjoy with exceptional people who live nearby.
Having recently turned 40, I've discovered a new interest: bicycle touring, which continues to appeal to my passion for travelling, an outdoors lifestyle and my affinity for new people. As I forge along, I am gathering wonderful road experiences in the rolling hills of Vermont, in foggy Nova Scotia, in country side Mauricie, in friendly Lac St-Jean.
For me, Canada now represents another step in my great adventure, one that will take over three months to complete. But I view it as privilege that life is offering me, and as such it has special meaning to me.
Sponsoring the Quebec Lung Association's mission is a way for me to give back some of what I have had the privilege to receive so far, namely health and wonderful life experiences.
I hope you will give generously to the Quebec Lung Association and that you will enjoy monitoring our adventures on our blog: http://www.4garsetuncanada.blogspot.com/
