An Air of Health | ![]() |

The air we breathe is essential to life! You've needed it from the time you were born. Unless air pollution is brought under control, it may end up causing you a variety of problems within the span of a few years.
In 2008, 21,000 deaths were attributable to the effects of air pollution in Canada. In 2013, it is estimated that this figure will climb to 90,000. If nothing is done to improve air quality, you could also be affected, along with thousands of people suffering from respiratory problems.
In Quebec, several cities experience over 2 months of poor air quality per year. The effects of smog on respiratory health are felt in cities and towns across the province. Everyone can suffer from smogrelated health problems. You may not see or feel anything, but your lungs and heart can be affected.
Smog may occur at any time of the year. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is an information tool used to indicate the level of pollution present in the air we breathe each day. Checking the Air Quality Index daily allows you to plan your outdoor activities accordingly.
You can help us improve air quality in Quebec. The Quebec Lung Association's mission is to promote respiratory health and prevent lung disease. In 2007, it shifted its attention to the environment, as several pulmonary illnesses are directly linked to air quality. Its ultimate goal is to clean up the air we breathe on a daily basis and thus prevent pulmonary illnesses and improve the quality of life of lung disease victims.
With an Air of Health, your donation will allow us to pursue our mission. As a result, you and thousands of individuals suffering from respiratory illnesses will be able to breathe clean air during your daily activities... whether you are biking, strolling through a park, or hiking on a mountain trail.
Your support will make all the difference
